Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson calls voters “uninformed”

1. A political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.
2. (in ancient Greece and Rome) A leader or orator who espoused the cause of the common people. – source: wikipedia

Johnson attributed Obama’s win on the heels of those Republican gains in Wisconsin to an uninformed electorate who voted in this election but not in the [Scott] Walker recall.

“If you aren’t properly informed, if you don’t understand the problems facing this nation, you are that much more prone to falling prey to demagoguing solutions. And the problem with demagoguing solutions is they don’t work,” Johnson said. “I am concerned about people who don’t fully understand the very ugly math we are facing in this country.”

-from a Wednesday AP article.

Senator-elect Tammy Baldwin responded:
“My sense the day after an election, what we saw was very enthusiastic involvement in the race,” she said. “People wanted their voices to be heard. I actually think they were well-informed.”

By the way, Ron hopes he can do some *mansplainin’ on Tammy:
“Hopefully I can sit down and lay out for her my best understanding of the federal budget because they’re simply the facts”.

I notice that some other blogs are using the hot-button word “ignorant” in the title. Looks to me he said “uninformed” which while it carries a tinge of insult, is not as loaded as “ignorant”.
[See this is why I will never create a profitable blog to sell to AOL. I am so screwed.]

Just a few more words:

1) Yes, we had more voters than for the recall and even more voters than voted in 2008. I bet that looks like “ugly math” to a Tea Party Republican like Senator Johnson. Wisconsin needs to use some of that same math to vote out Johnson when he’s up for reelection November 8, 2016.

3,045,448 people voted in the Nov. 6 election in total with 99% of all WI wards reporting.

2,516,065 voted in the June 5 recall.

2,171,331 voted in the 2010 U.S. Senate race.

2,983,417 people voted in the 2008 presidential in Wisconsin.

2) Keep on insulting people and putting your silver foot in your mouth, Senator Johnson. It’s all being recorded for future reference.

3) Tammy should accept Senator Johnson’s offer of some good old fashioned mansplainin'(she’s do darn nice, she probably will) but she should also insist that it be videotaped for her constituents. I want to learn more about his understanding of the budget which he says is equivalent to “facts”.

Election numbers are from the G.A.B. website and the google/AP map

To explain in a patronizing manner, assuming total ignorance on the part of those listening. The mansplainer is often shocked and hurt when their mansplanation is not taken as absolute fact, criticized or even rejected altogether. source: urban dictionary
