“…Wisconsin, the eighth largest army in the world…”

And I thought I had some unattainable goals.

A young man in Wisconsin has put forth a petition for the Dairy State to secede from the United States. His online petition uses the same platform and much of the same text found on a more popular Texan effort. (I’ve been encouraging Texas to secede for years, so nothing but encouragement here for THAT.)

That Texas petition has over 61,000 signatures tacked onto it. There are at least 17 such petitions on the White House’s “We the People” site intended to solicit input from the public. In theory, petitions at the site which gain 25,000 virtual signatures or more inside of 30 days gain the attention of the Obama administration and just might inspire policy changes.

On Wisconsin
Here’s a link to the petition to “Peacefully grant the State of Wisconsin to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.”

I’m really intrigued by this declaration:
“With over 600,000 hunters, Wisconsin, the eighth largest army in the world, will be able to protect themselves as an independent country.”

Not only does Wisconsin have a massive hunting population, it also manufactures tactical vehicles and combat ships and it borders the world’s largest supply of fresh water. Yes this state could take care of itself if only the Koch Brothers would let it. But seriously, there are other issues that need addressing such as the great bayonet and horse shortage of the Midwest.

Even more concerning is the severe shortage of signatures on the Wisconsin petition. I see only 1 signature there at the moment: Ryan L’s. He is probably the Ron Paul supporter and “Marijuana Enthusiast” I see here on twitter.

I’m so disappointed. I was hoping Kim Simac of the Northwoods Patriots would have something to do with this but, darn it, she’s busy writing emails to Scott Walker to say “No to Obamacare” – an effort that I’m happy to say is almost as futile as this one.

  1. Yesterday early afternoon I created a petition for Wisconsin to secede at the White House gov website. I had no idea another one had already been created, because when you search the White House gov website you cannot locate the petitions, and now a third has been created. When I created mine Wisconsin was not on the list, but since I created mine Wisconsin was put on the list. Maybe this third one was reading Yahoo, because as inept as Yahoo is they of course did not report Wisconsin in their story.

I understand, too, this is symbolic, but it’s more than that. We’re showing the government, and particularly the Obama Administration, we do not want them. I can say with great enthusiasm that much of the country – the part of the country that thinks, knows what’s going on, and cares – is willing to participate in a real Civil War. We’re done! The next big question is… is who will be the one great person to begin organizing the imminent Civil War to come? Oh, and the Liberals/Democrats don’t matter; they are in fact part of the country, and constitution, we are protecting ourselves from, so they, too, will be steam-rolled.

  2. And a word to Texas: as an Oklahoman I’d say ‘Don’t let the door hit you in the ass!’ But it does keep Oklahoma from sliding into the Gulf of Mexico…

  3. Hm. I’m sure these folks have detailed plans for a quick, easy transition to these items needed, should their wish be granted: currency, passports, social infrastructures, schools, higher education, fire fighters, police, roads, sewers, import/export structures, international trade agreements, citizenship/foreign worker structures, flights, taxes, laws, childcare, eldercare, fuel imports, etc etc. Yes, I’m sure they have all of that planned out. So, where can I access these plans of theirs?

  4. Consider that the 2nd Amendment says ‘A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.’

The Constitution somewhat agrees with Ryan. Or did until the Supremes decided that the 1st clause was superfluous.

Otherwise, we should probably keep the 2nd Amendment. It’s the only one of the Bill of Rights we have even half of left.

Thanks to Smilin’ Dick Cheney and Rocky the O for their on-going destruction of the Constitution: the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, FISA, HR 347, the NDAA, and counting…

  5. I for one am very concerned about our horse and bayonet shortage. We should probably focus on that first. 😉

Perhaps someone should explain to Ryan L. the difference between hunters and the military and why one is nothing like the other.
