UPDATED / From “time to time” the Wisconsin Guv will give “the State of the Union”

Update: State of the State speech to be delivered Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 7:00 P.M. – source

Does the Wisconsin citizenry actually get restless without formal words from the dairyland’s highest executive leader?

Or do we simply want SOME idea when he’ll speak on the TV so we might devise therapeutic drinking games in advance and hide all the sharp implements?

I ask because I first saw one rumor that he would speak on January 14th because of this calendar.

Then I saw a rumor he would speak in Beloit at the ABC Corporation. (Why would he go there? #sarcasm)  Now I hear that there is no date set but it will be in February.  A friend reminded me that the constitution dictates that the Guv do this – but that there is no set time.

From Section 3 of the WI constitution:

“He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient”

Let me know if you, dear reader, turn up more information about the situation.

Here’s a nice recording of “Time after Time” while we enjoy the time before the next time Scott Walker speaks.

  1. Well, our less than beloved fearless leader is busy doing his civic duty, for the first time in 25 years of civil service, waiting as an alternate juror. First time since whenever, that he has had a legitimate excuse for any of his behavior.
