Maggie Ginsberg-Schutz has written a masterful piece for Milwaukee Magazine on Wisconsin DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp entitled “Natural Selection“.
This lengthy article takes a critical view of Stepp – – the real estate developer and former Tea Party state senator who was appointed by Walker to bring her “Chamber of Commerce” (and anti-science) mentality to the DNR. It also crosses into territory that is strictly off limits to conventional news outlets in Wisconsin for reasons unknown to this blogger: ALEC.
Absolutely extraordinary. Reality has pierced the veil.
“Suder helped introduce the Jobs Creation Acts and, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report, he was one of five Republicans to write the Gogebic mining
legislation, a secretive process shepherded by the WMC, members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (a free-market, limited-government organization made up of state legislators and businesses), and the Gogebic Taconite mining company itself.”
“Natural Selection” unsweeps former Assemlyman Scott Suder from under his rug, walking us back through Suder’s insertion of a $500,000 crony United Sportsmen grant into the 2013 budget. Ginsberg-Schutz’ piece also reveals that Stepp tried to sneak past the DNR board with a resolution to allow private deer farms and it also lays bare Wisconsin’s brutal blood sport, wolf hunting.
It is Wisconsin’s must-read. For writing it, Maggie Ginsberg-Schutz will now be crucified by the usual suspects.
Then read Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s first shot off the bow: a McCarthyist attack carried out with the aid of Dan Bice.
Big ole cheese hat tip to Cognitive Dissidence.
