Wall Street Journal again scolds its school boy, Scott Walker

wall street journal walker

This is a very brief update because I’m about to visit garden #2.

Again the Wall Street Journal is scolding Scott Walker as if he’s the newspaper’s – or Eric O’Keefe’s –  school boy.

This latest letter to Walker and conservative brethren says that his recent statements were “disingenuous”. Why? An excerpt:

The “federal lawsuit” is one brought by Mr. Walker’s political allies in federal court against prosecutors who are conducting a state John Doe probe into allegedly illegal campaign coordination. Our editorial concerned Mr. Walker’s willingness to settle with prosecutors over his role in the state John Doe probe. The worry is that he might settle to help his re-election campaign while throwing his allies over the side.

  1. Need a subscription to “read the rest”?!? Can someone that has access copy it here for those of us that don’t, please. And thanks.

    • Sorry. I don’t have a paid subscription and apparently they let this be viewed for free for a while and then lock it down. I can stop by the library tomorrow.

  2. Completely unforced error, thinking the WSJ could be fooled with just a touch of spin and making more negative press for himself as a result. Seems symptomatic of a guy too accustomed to the constant soft-pedaling of Wisconsin’s press.

At some point soon his backers are going to have to start thinking of him as damaged goods: too unethical to keep out of trouble with the law, too unwilling to protect allies to risk involving themselves with him further.

  3. Here’s my rendering of it “…The “federal lawsuit” is one brought by Mr. Walker’s political allies (oligarchs) in federal court against prosecutors (civil servants) who are conducting a state John Doe probe into allegedly illegal campaign coordination (oligarchs finishing the destruction of the unions and the 99%). Our editorial concerned Mr. Walker’s willingness to settle (roll on O’Keefe) with prosecutors over his role in the state John Doe probe. The worry is that he might settle (testify) to help his re-election campaign (we oligarchs trust that Ms. Burke will be just as staunchly anti-union as Scott Walker (and who knows, she might, like Chris Abele, turn out to be a pleasant surprise)) while throwing his allies over the side.

Sincerely hope my fears about Ms. Burke are unfounded.

A few more weeks of the Wall Street Journal editorial page tying Gov. Walker to the oligarchs/dark money and Ms. Burke could be up ten points.
