Remember those 8 State of Wisconsin Republican Senators that people have been working madly to recall?
Do you remember Randy Hopper – the avid supporter of Governor Walker’s regressive Wisconsin Act 10 and his whole 1800’s-era sideshow of legislation that if not halted will strip collective bargaining rights, gut funding of public education K-12, remove access to healthcare and care for the disabled, the elderly, and the working poor..
…. who’s been living in Madison instead of his own home district (errr, uhh, not legal),
…who ditched his wife and kids for a spry young lobbyist (hey, not an example of family devotion there …and a lobbyist? isn’t that conflict of interest?)
…WITH a lobbyist-girlfriend who the Governor’s chief of staff got a cushy job for *suddenly* that conveniently earned…
Gahhh! Get rid of this guy!
I remember Randy Hopper, and so do his constituents who offered 22,500 signatures to get rid of him and so does Scout from the blog First Draft who pulled together a video of the Recall Hopper Campaign signature submission to the G.A.B. on Thursday and it is great!
(mine will be out tonight….I got swept up in covering Waukesha-gate)
Scout has been capturing videos for the duration of the Wisconsin movement, and First Draft is one of my favorite blogs to visit.
From thenorthwestern.com: “Petitioners needed to submit 15,269 signatures to trigger a recall election, according to the Government Accountability Board. Dillman said supporters had collected “well over” 20,000 signatures. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin said more than 22,500 signatures were collected.
The state has 31 days to confirm all signatures are from eligible voters. Hopper could challenge the petition within 10 days of its initial submission. After that, an election would be scheduled for a Tuesday six weeks from the certification date.”
Randy Hopper is a Republican Wisconsin State Senator from the 18th district which includes Fond du lac, Waupun, and Oshkosh.
