The Undaunted Democrats of Wisconsin

The note I added to this tweeted photo was “I could laugh. I could cry.”   In truth, I cried.

Democrats move their desks out to the lawn of Wisconsin’s Capitol today in Madison as Governor Scott Walker continues to defy a court order and unlawfully restrict access to Wisconsin’s statehouse.

I can’t confirm, but my hunch is that the man seated at the desk is Democrat Representative Fred Clark from Baraboo. Image is from @MissPronouncer

I tweeted this image and I’ve lost count how many times it was retweeted with various messages attached.

Here’s a favorite tweet : “Dems had 2 move desks outside b/c Gov so paranoid ovr peaceful demonstrators he illegally blocked access to Capitol. Dictator style.” – from @catawu

Fred Clark?

  1. I’m not normally a big fan of Democrats. I sympathize, deeply, with the Nader critique, etc. Dime’s worst of difference and all…

But gottdammit, a dime right now is worth the entire world. Dems are making themselves worthy of our support, appreciation, and staunch defense.

  2. I canvassed for Fred (i’m not in his district but couldn’t let his opponent win) and THIS is why. Thumbs up, Fred!

  3. Just when I was beginning to think the Wisconsin Republicans couldn’t shock me any further, Walker locks legislators out of the capitol building. Then they pass a resolution that will fine any legislator who doesn’t show up for work for two consecutive days. The list of Walker’s abuses goes on and on.This is a power struggle Walker and his tub thumpers don’t realize they’ve already lost. Even the Koch brothers don’t have enough money to sweep this scandal under the rug.

  4. I did a little of both too. Yup, that’s Fred Clark. Rep. Kelda Helen Roys, whose office is not on ground floor, also came out. In the process of posting pic. and video clip — in which she says only dirt she’s seen in the Capitol is Republican dirty tricks.

  5. That’s MY representative sitting out in the cold! Thanks Fred!
Proud to be from Caledonia Township 🙂

  6. If the Egyptian people can bring down a dictator after 30 years of police state rule, why can’t state employee unions bring down this Governor or at least start a Governor recall effort. This is the United States of America, re-learn how to do it yourself.

Poll: Americans favor union bargaining rights, By Judy Keen and Dennis Cauchon, USA TODAYUpdated 2/23/2011 2:00:45 PM, MADISON, Wis. —
Americans strongly oppose laws taking away the collective bargaining power of public employee unions, according to a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. The poll found 61% would oppose a law in their state similar to such a proposal in Wisconsin, compared with 33% who would favor such a law.

  7. God bless these Democrats. The sad part is that the governor cannot wrap his dictatorial little mind around how damaging these photos are to him.
