Wisconsin is part of a bigger battle. We know this is not just speculation because Gov. Walker’s candid conversation on the phone when he thought he was talking to Koch reveals he speaks almost daily with other GOP governors such as Ohio Gov. Kasich to implement similar laws beyond Wisconsin state boundaries.
A crucial supreme court election will be held in 2 weeks. The fate of the constitutionality of the bill dissolving unions and allowing the governor to sell off the assets of the state of Wisconsin NOT to the highest bidder, but to whoever he chooses at any price they want (without public approval) hangs in the balance. It will certainly go to the supreme court.
Frank Luntz, the Republican advertising and marketing guru, was recently in Wisconsin meeting with Gov. Walker. It’s important to understand his “playbook” of techniques so the people are not fooled by them. It’s clear to me that powerful moneyed interests are seeking to portray the protesters as “unions thugs” and pampered civil servants earning six-figure salaries.
Since this election has such important consequences, it’s likely people like Karl Rove will pour money into TV ads right before the Apr 5 election and on other upcoming elections such as recalls he can influence. These ads will attempt to sway a few people into supporting Judge Prosser. They are counting on an uninformed and apathetic public not realizing the Supreme Court under Prosser’s leadership will rubberstamp the Republican agenda and thwart attempts to stop it.
If you see TV ads funded by Crossroads GPS, you need to call all your friends and relatives and put up a big response ad on the Internet circling “Crossroads GPS” shown at the end of the ad in red with the audio “This is Karl Rove’s organization of billionaire contributors. Don’t let them buy another Supreme Court. Vote for Judge Kloppenburg on April 5.”
If Judge Prosser is elected there will be no overturning Gov. Walker’s budget and selling power plants to cronies. Vote now or all your future efforts will be useless. And get your friends to vote!
You don’t have to wait until April 5. You can VOTE NOW. Go to your City Clerk’s Office and VOTE. Register if you need to. Bring photo ID & proof of address. You’ll feel better after you vote, knowing your voice has been heard.
They are counting on the public not realizing the importance of this election and hoping that public demonstrations have diffused some of the anger. This election is your only real chance to stop their attempts to drain the public infrastructure of funding and transfer it to out-of-state corporate fatcats.
Vote for Judge Kloppenburg on April 5. And let everyone you know understand what’s at stake in this election and get them to vote! Apathy = pain and suffering
