Scott Walker: The Lies. The threats. The “smirking goon squad”.

Walker is publicly confronted by a member of the press. What?!?

The press never confronts Walker on his hypocrisy. If they do, they get dragged into the tunnel that leads to the Risser Building and then driven off to a secret bunker accessed only through a door behind five Radioshack TRS-80’s in Kathy Nickolaus’ office in Waukesha.

But today, a reporterasked Walker a confrontational question.

Walker is asked:”You visited Florida this past weekend to ask for contributions but my colleague said yesterday when we spoke that you were lamenting that big money from other states [is] coming in, do you have, I don’t know, something to say about that …whether that contradicts itself?”

Walker says: “No obviously you’ve got big union – big government union money coming in from Washington, and I think grassroots activists from across the state and across the country ….”   And the audio is fading there.

I asked for help deciphering Walker’s trailing words. @thebookpolice replied:

“I’m pretty sure he’s saying grass-roots activists “need to be able to counter it”–“it” being big union money.”

@thebookpolice added, ‘Do we know who asked the question? And would his smirking goon squad have slashed her tires if she’d persisted?”

I had a good laugh at “smirking goon squad” and then I watched this 42 second video again and the situation seemed less funny. It’s just a surface thing, but there is an oddly smiling man on the left of my screen and a burly man glowering  on the far right.

The video was done by WisconsinReporter.com.

Anybody know who all these men are?

Walker says Employees Will Get the Knife If You Don’t Pretend My Bill is Legal (I am totally paraphrasing, there)

“Gov. Scott Walker says he may have to again consider laying off state employees if his collective bargaining law remains tied up in the courts for much more than the next week or two.

“(But) for now, we’re still ready to implement it once we get the green light from the courts,” Walker told WisPolitics.com as part of an administration effort to mark his first 100 days in office today.

The Republican guv adds the state has no plans to retroactively collect the higher health care and pension payments from state employees if the courts clear the way.” from WisPolitics.com

  1. Thank you for putting the pieces together. So interesting when the puzzle begins to come together. Walker does not think that voters are from the grassroots, does he think that voters are teabaggers? I can hear people chanting “we are the grassroots and we vote!” I am just pondering where these slogans are going. FYI — I am cheering you all on from Maryland. Picked up the Leader Telegram article up from a google search.

  2. still haven’t been able to figure out who those two goons on the far right and left of walker are. Must be henchmen

  3. Debbie-1. Take a look at where the union money has come from in 2010: “Wisconsin Education Association Council PAC $1,599,094” That’s teachers. Now being hit on two fronts as public education is gutted by Wisconsin Act 10 and the budget + as collective bargaining rts. are being stripped. Here’s where the WEAC stat come from: http://www.wisdc.org/pr030711.php#chart2 I’d like to note that I have no problem with “outside money” coming to support collective bargaining rights. It should give one pause that the birthplace of these sorts of rights is under attack. Did I say the word “rights” frequently? Oh..just “rights”. There. Happened again.
Worth being super-obvious and saying WI is a battleground state in the 2012 election for the Nth time. Walker has a glassy eye on D.C. – or that’s how he acts. The scary “outside money” is going to be here in any case. What’s really interesting is the perverse use of “grassroots”. What is now “grassroots”?
    2. And this is neat – Most of the Leader-Telegram paywall is kaput? Huh.. given WEAU/WAXX 2000 ft radio tower fell couple wks. b4 election .. Lemme guess-mad scramble to find open ad slots before the 4/5 election and L-Telegram had to take down the wall to get the clicks to get the political $. Now that it’s free, I can see from Madison if they’ll try to stay right-wingy while NW WI readership has gone blue. Fun, fun.
