Representative Baldwin Asks U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder To Investigate
Director of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board Kennedy did express concern that Waukesha County’s Clerk waited 24 hours to contact him. In this wisn.com clip you hear Wisconsin State Representative Jon Richards state that the mishandling of votes in Waukesha County “..puts a cloud over an incredibly important election.”
Richards wants the U.S. Justice Department and the Wisconsin State DOJ to be both invited to team up to ensure that there’s no controversy over what happened and when it happened and ensure there was nothing “improper or illegal going on”
G.A.B. is investigating: “It’s not that we necessarily expect to find anything criminal. But we want to make sure the public has confidence in the results,” More at Reuters
Govenment Accountability Board Considered Toothless
I think the opinion of Daily Kos’ Giles Goat Boy is shared by many who doubt the thoroughness and power of the G.A.B. -“This is an administrative review with no teeth. If they find something wrong, there’s very little they can do about it. They aren’t even going to Waukesha until next week according to local news.”
In truth, G.A.B. staff did go to Waukesha County’s office on Friday 4/8, as reported by Reuters.
Common Cause in Wisconsin calls for
…investigation by the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the District Attorney of Waukesha County. Both Justice Prosser and Ms. Kloppenburg should furthermore demand a statewide recount that is not funded by either campaign. More at Common Cause
Your comments on the matter are welcome.
I think a federal level investigation to include seizure and forensic investigation of the 5 computers Waukesha County’s clerk has kept under secretive control is warranted.
mamaraby- But of course it skirts Janesville. (!!!) Thanks for the note. I owe you a beverage.
Ooo! Could it be at one of those official leftist cocktail parties? I’ve always wanted to go to one of those. I didn’t even dawn on me the reason why Janesville was excluded from Baldwin’s district. It actually looks kind of Frankenstine-esque when you zoom in on it.
LOL! The leftists seem to be gathering at 5pm every Friday …it’s almost as if we’re developing some kind of organization to this. 🙂
It’s probably better phrased that the district goes South, around Janesville and down to Beloit and the state line. Janesville has the dubious distinction of being represented by Paul Ryan.
I would think that in the interests of accountability and transparency – especially given the events of the last few months – that the partnership of both state and federal agencies would be welcome.
